Our members come in all shapes, sizes, colors and flavors. We have multiple jobs, roles, challenges, and gifts, but above all, we are a pack. “Skate Your Way to Good Health” story in the ELF and Saturday Off-Skates Boot Camps

Interested in getting started? Check out our Saturday Off-Skates Boot Camps! Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Jan. 19th through April 6th, at Hancock Elementary School, 10 Elementary Lane, Hancock, NH (enter through main front doors). Suggested $5 donation. Bring a towel or yoga mat, athletic shoes (or go barefoot), water bottle, free weight (3-8 lbs.) suggested for more resistance. This Bootcamp will consist of two 45 minute sessions with 5 – 10 minute health/fitness discussion periods. The intention is to provide a platform for the average person to create a basic understanding of being athletic and taking care of yourself. Exercises will be off-skates and provide a cross-training experience for skaters to improve core-strength, flexibility, and balance. Community Derby Rock Star Training – No Skates Required

Looking to stay in shape with a fun-loving bunch but not ready for skates? Come to our roller derby rock star training sessions. The first 45 minutes of practice will be off-skates strength training and en”derb”ance, using body weight. Optional: stay and learn to skate for the next 45 minutes, as we will be focusing on the skills required.

Participants will have to sign a waiver, and can be from ages 8 to +18. They should be ready to sweat and move their bodies to a variety of exercises that will target zones of the body used for skating. Hence train like a derby rock star!!

$5 drop-in donation for non-members.

Mondays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29; November 5 and 19; December 3

Monadnock Roller Derby’s women’s team, the Mad Knockers, and juniors team, the Mad Misfits, are recruiting both recreational and competitive skaters! During the off-season, we train by exercising, playing games, and building teamwork and communication skills. Beginning and returning skaters are encouraged to try out their stuff. No experience necessary! And the benefits are amazing! Bring a friend!

Monadnock Roller Derby will be skating in the parade at noon and hosting a vendor table with official team merchandise, fresh cookbooks featuring teammates’ photos and recipes, and fun stuff all day. At 4 PM, catch the Mad Misfits as they take on junior roller derby players from throughout New England and beyond at a black & white scrimmage.

Final regular bout of the season tonight!

On August 25, join us for for our final final bout of 2018, a “Heroes vs Villains” themed bout with COSTUMES against Seacoast Roller Derby. This will be a double-header with our Mad Misfits playing Seacoast Juniors followed by Mad Knockers vs the women of Seacoast. Event details on Seacoast Roller Derby’s Facebook page.

Parking & entry for July 21 bout

VERY IMPORTANT PARKING INFO for our upcoming Mad Knockers vs NH All-Stars & Mad Misfits vs NH Junior RD game. Please note references to the campus map are for the .pdf version: https://www.nec.edu/wp-co…/uploads/NEC_CampusMap_Parking.pdf.

The bout is at New England College (Henniker, NH) at the Lee Clement Arena (letter W on the campus map). During construction on the lower part of Grove Street in front of the arena, the Field House lot (number 12 on the map) and West Lot (number 26 on the map) will not be accessible, nor will the front (south) entrance. Therefore, we will be using the rear (north) entrance (the Zamboni end) and alternative parking areas.

Parking near the back entrance will be extremely limited, about 12 spaces; these will be reserved for emergency personnel, handicap vehicles, and vehicles delivering equipment & supplies. If you are driving one of these vehicles, the Arena Rear Lot (number 5 on the map) can be reached by driving in to the entrance of Simon Center (98 Bridge Street, number 21 on the map) and then proceeding past Gilmore Dining Hall (letter S on the map) to the end.

A few more spaces can be found behind and adjacent to the CEI lot (numbers 1 and 8 on the map). These can be reached by proceeding south to Bridge Street, turning right on Circle Street, then right again into the lots. (CEI = Center for Educational Innovation, letter H on the map.)

Additional parking will be in the Simon Center lot (number 21 on the map). From this lot, walk between the Simon Center (letter EE on the map) and Colby Hall (letter K on the map) to get to the arena.

Overflow parking will be in what NEC calls the River Lot which is across the street from the Simon Center.

If you run into any hazards or encounter a safety situation, the number for NEC Campus Safety is (603) 428-2323. The Campus Safety building is at 58 Union Street.

Mad Misfits head to Central New York Junior Roller Derby

On May 19, our Mad Misfits take on the Central New York Junior Roller Derby team in Rome, NY! These players have worked hard and grown so much as individuals and as a team. We’re sending them with pride and confidence!
