They’re back! Professional sound and lights, hot and cold concessions, games, and a great time for all, no matter your age or skill.

These monthly events allow us to offer free membership to our junior team, the Mad Misfits. Without the support of our community, we could not offer this amazing opportunity to our youth, who are developing teamwork, confidence, communication, leadership development, and healthy habits in a safe, welcoming space. If you cannot come to skating night, please consider becoming a Mad Misfits or Mad Knockers sponsor.
October’s Skating Night features a costume contest! So get ready… Bring everybody!

Monadnock Roller Derby is a registered NH nonprofit.
Our Mission is threefold:
Challenge ourselves to get back up, as many times as it takes;
Challenge one another to be our best, because no one survives alone;
Create a safe and supportive space for all members to learn, grow, and smash their fears.

We are recruiting

Monadnock Roller Derby’s junior team, the Mad Misfits, and women’s team, the Mad Knockers, are both recruiting new skaters and family members. This is an opportunity for YOU to join one of the most successful teams in New England, in one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.

Recruitment Night – October 18

5:30 Mad Misfits | 6:30 Mad Knockers | Great Brook School, Antrim NH

Mad_Knock-316Our coaches and skaters of all experience levels will welcome you, show you the ropes, and get you to love roller derby as much as we do. See we’re all about and ask all your questions. Family members and significant others, consider joining as a skating or non-skating official!

There is a monthly membership fee which we try to offset through fundraising, volunteering, and sponsorship. The only other cost is equipment and insurance. Members must have their own health insurance.

Besides skating, we hold activities throughout the year, such as parades, community suppers, bout viewing parties, outdoor skating, and more.

Tournament victories and this weekend’s home opener!

It was an action-packed weekend as the Mad Knockers tested ourselves against some of the very best teams in New England at the All Eight on the Floor Tournament. Joined by some serious muscle from the Elm City Derby Damez, we played a respectable first game against Maine Roller Derby‘s formidable Old Port Brigade, then beat Hartford Area Roller Derby‘s awesome Beat City Bedrockers at a breathtaking 169-167. Our final game, which began with nine players and ended with just six, earned us the fourth place spot. Not too shabby for the very first tournament in Monadnock league history. Congratulations to all the teams, BIG thanks to the officials and volunteers, props to Worcester Roller Derby for organizing, and to all our fans… GO MAD!

We had a fantastic time skating and greeting the community this past weekend in the Hillsboro Balloon Festival parade. Thanks to everyone who came out. We hope to see you again soon as a fan, skater, official, or volunteer!

Summertime also means a change of pace for practices. This week we were joined by Wild Rumpus and Haz of Twin State Derby, who shared their amazing skating and coaching skills to amp up our blocking and jamming. Elm City Derby Damez joined us, too; we love bonding with neighboring teams. We’re at Lee Clement Arena at New England College for the summer, which means our juniors join us for warm-ups and practice on their own track.

See you soon!

Mad Love,

Monadnock Roller Derby
